About the Artist: Lynn Sissons (1898–1985) was a Canadian artist renowned for her watercolors, primarily depicting landscapes of Canada. Born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, she studied at the Winnipeg School of Art under esteemed instructors such as Frank Johnston and Walter J. Phillips. Her work has been exhibited across Canada, including a solo exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in 1963. Sissons was a leader in the Manitoba arts community, serving as president of the Winnipeg Sketch Club and the Manitoba Society of Artists. Her legacy continues through the Lynn Sissons Award, which supports watercolour artists annually. Sissons' art reflects her deep appreciation for nature and her skillful interpretation of the Canadian landscape.
